Eliot and Cope

I always hear snippets of "The Waste Land" in my head. ("Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song, / Sweet Thames, run softly though I speak not loud or long.") So I had to laugh out loud when I discovered "Waste Land Limericks" by Wendy Cope. Scroll down the page and read all five (which correspond to the five sections of "The Waste Land"). I especially like Section 3. Also, if you want to brush up on the original, I found it here, with hypertext links for the notes, which is pretty cool.

There lives in West Ken an American couple,
Dan's a nice guy, Tara is trouble,
They're out looking for flats,
Turns out prices are nuts!
They'll probably end up paying up double.
